The YMCA of Rapid City is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Chief Operations Officer (COO) to join our executive leadership team. As COO, you'll oversee the daily operations of our YMCA centers, directly supervising center Directors and ensuring high-quality, inclusive programs that meet the needs of our diverse community. You’ll play a key role in guiding operational strategy, fostering cross-branch collaboration, and driving growth through innovation, program expansion, and community partnerships.
Working closely with the CEO, board members, and local leaders, you’ll help shape the future of the Y in the Black Hills—creating policies that promote equity, ensuring financial health at the center level, and building a culture of accountability, inclusion, and impact. - Proven leadership experience—minimum of 7–10 years in operations or nonprofit management.
- Strong background in staff supervision, community engagement, and strategic growth.
- Deep understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and decision-making skills.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
- Experience with YMCA operations is a plus.
- Lead and supervise Center Directors to ensure operational quality and consistency.
- Provide coaching and direction to branch leadership and boards.
- Partner with the CEO, board members, and community leaders to identify and respond to community needs.
- Create inclusive organizational policies that promote equity and remove barriers.
- Monitor center-level financial performance, ensuring revenue and fundraising goals are met and expenses are well managed.
- Drive growth through program innovation, member engagement, pricing strategies, and partnerships.
- Guide the organization through strategic decisions on program priorities and resource allocation.
- Encourage cross-branch collaboration to launch new initiatives and improve service delivery.
- Represent the CEO in the community as needed, building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
